Taouret, also known as Taweret or Thouéris, is a goddess of Egyptian mythology often depicted in the form of a female hippopotamus. A protector of pregnant women and children, she embodies fertility, maternity and benevolence, offering a figure of security to women during pregnancy and childbirth.
