Brook was a former West Blue military commander who joined the Rumbar Pirates, a crew of music-loving pirates. He ate the Demon Fruit Revive-Revive, whose power only activates after the user's death. During their voyage, a whale named Laboon joined them, but they left her at Reverse Mountain in Crocus's care. During their Grand Line adventure, Yorki, captain of the Rumbar Pirates, died and Brook took command of the crew.
