Henri Matisse (1869 - 1954) was a French painter, draughtsman, sculptor and printmaker known for his use of color, his fluid and original draughtsmanship.He was a leading figure in the development of Fauvism and was one of the major figures of the 20th century art.He was heavily influenced by the work of the Impressionists, but later developed his own unique style characterized by the use of bright, contrasting colors and bold, fluid brushstrokes.
