Bacchus ill (c. 1593-1594) - Caravaggio (Masterpiece Coloring Page)
This illustration was inspired by Caravaggio, also known as Sick Bacchus.
It depicts the god Bacchus as a pale-skinned young man, crowned with vine leaves and holding a bunch of grapes, the symbol of wine and transience.
Painted around 1593-1594, this work is often interpreted as a veiled self-portrait of Caravaggio, painted while he was convalescing. The crude realism of the face and the fragility of the body contrast with the traditional idealized iconography of the ancient gods, illustrating Caravaggio's desire to bring the sacred and the human closer together.
A chill and fairly difficult Masterpiece printable, to download and color.
