Haussmann architecture
Two buildings typical of Haussmann architecture occupy the corner of the street, with their ashlar facades, spindly balconies and rich ornamentation. This architectural style originated in the 19th century, when Baron Haussmann was commissioned by Napoleon III to transform Paris during the Second Empire.
The aim was to modernize the city, aerate older districts and unify urban aesthetics, giving rise to the emblematic image of the elegant, harmonious Paris we know today.
