Coloring page : Leonardo da Vinci - The Virgin of the Rocks (National Gallery London)

Coloring based on 'The Virgin of the Rocks (National Gallery London version)' by Leonardo da Vinci (1491). A first version of this painting can be seen at the Musée du Louvre in Paris. This second version, exhibited at the National Gallery in London, is very different. The emphasis is on the identity of the two children: a halo is added above Jesus' head and a cross is painted between the hands of St. John the Baptist. In fact, the brotherhood that had commissioned the painting was not satisfied: the confusion between the two children was deemed too easy. It was this painting that took pride of place in the chapel of the church of San Francesco Grande in Milan.
