The Prodigal Son - English tapestry from the early 17th century
Inspired by an English cushion cover made between 1600 and 1610, this coloring illustration depicts the story of the Prodigal Son through a decorative scene rich in figures, plant motifs, and textile ornaments. This wool and silk work was likely produced in the Sheldon tapestry workshop in Barcheston, Warwickshire.
