This Parisian metro entrance is a fine example of the Art Nouveau style, recognizable by its curved lines, plant motifs and elegant metal structure. These emblematic entrances were designed at the beginning of the 20th century by architect and designer Hector Guimard, for the 1900 Universal Exhibition.

The Paris metro, inaugurated the same year, had to be modern, functional and accessible to all. Guimard designed standardized yet artistic entrances that became symbols of the Parisian landscape. Even today, these Art Nouveau structures recall the golden age of urban innovation and architectural refinement in Paris.
