Thomas Edison and the Invention of the Electric Light Bulb - 1879 (Historical events Coloring Page)
Thomas Alva Edison (1847–1931), the American inventor genius nicknamed the 'Wizard of Menlo Park,' filed the patent for the incandescent light bulb on January 27, 1879, and successfully conducted its first public demonstration on December 31, 1879, in his Menlo Park laboratory in New Jersey. After thousands of experiments and failed attempts, he developed a carbon fiber filament capable of burning for over 13 hours without extinguishing.
This invention revolutionized daily human life and paved the way for the electrification of cities. Holding a total of 1,093 patents, Edison also invented the phonograph (1877) and contributed to the development of motion pictures. His Menlo Park laboratory, founded in 1876, is considered the first industrial research and development center in history.
